Cat Care Tips
Your cat may be independent and aloof at times but she is depending on your for her essentials: food, fresh water every day and of course a clean litter box.
I recommend cleaning the litter box everyday even if you only have one cat. I know how I would feel if I had to frequent an area that wasn’t clean.
Takes five minutes to do and your cat will thank you.
Here are some tips:
1. If you let your fluffy feline roam the neighborhood be sure to attach a safe collar (one that breaks apart if caught on a branch or fence or whatever, you know cats) and a pet ID tag.
Having your Veterinarian insert a tracking chip is another good idea.
2. Having a soft collar and ID for your cat is recommended but the best solution is to keep your cat indoors.
If you’ve ever lost a pet to an accident or she just never returned home, you will understand this.
Cats love looking out windows or sitting on an enclosed deck. Why not install a window perch so your pet can enjoy some bird watching.
3. Bring your cat to the Veterinarian at regular intervals for checkups. Your pet’s health is important.
Check out Spay and Neuter Clinics in your area. They usually offer services at a lower cost.
4. Please do the responsible thing and Spay or neuter your pet. This simple procedure keeps you and your cat happier and reduces the number of unwanted kittens. Spay and Neuter clinics provide this service at low cost.
5. Be sure to offer your cat nutritional dry or wet food. Your Vet can advise you which foods to feed and how much. Be sure to leave fresh water available at all times.
Pet watering and feeding systems are a great convenience.
6. It is hard to believe but with a little patience you can train your cat. Putting aluminum foil on counter tops and other places your cat should not be, is a good deterrent. They hate the sound and feel of the foil.
There are cat training sprays available as well.
7. Brushing your can is pleasurable for both of you. It is necessary for long haired cats to keep from having mats develop. But it is good for all cats . My cat just loves being brushed. Spend some quality time with Fluffy.
8. Plan on some play time with your cat. It is great exercise for him and enjoyable for you as well. Cats will use anything as toys, bottle caps, string, tie wraps, etc. Catnip is a great way to get your cat moving. It should not be given to kittens but cats over 6 months or so really enjoy it.
Or, to pamper your pet ,there are an assortment of wonderful fluffy cat toys on the market.
9. Remember patience is everything in your relationship with your cat. They are creatures of habit and can be trained out of unwanted behavior. Return the love your cat gives by providing the best care possible.
